Hot Water: Clean Water

Written by evan on March 6, 2008 at 8:16 PM

I blogged the other day about our hot water heater dieing out Sunday afternoon.
Many have heard me complain. Here. Here. Here. Here. Here. Here. and Here.
Well today, when I got home. the hot water worked, and our landlord advised me that it cost him $500 to fix it.

I got to thinking. Here I am complaining about hot water, when a lot of people don't have clean water.

2000 World Commission on Water for the 21st Century Report

  • three billion people in the world don't have proper sanitation
  • one billion people don't have access to safe water
  • the equivalent of 12 jumbo jets of children die everyday from sanitation-related diseases

three billion people in the world don't have proper sanitation.

According to Blood:Water Misison, $1 = one year of water for an african

Hey, I understand your hot water woes. Our water heater died days ago, and the landlord still hasn't replaced it. Very upset. But you're right, things in perspective often quite the riling feelings.

A little.

;-)

And congrats on the 2000th Tweet! :-D

By the way, there is also another cool initiative where they donate clean water to developing countries? I read about this on this site: www.sendasplash.com but you can also access it via www.givepurwater.org/magic
I thought it was interesting.....
