But it was our sins that did that to him, that ripped and tore and crushed him - our sins! He took the punishment, and that made us whole. Through his bruises we get healed.- Isaiah 53:5
students were challenged to reflect and pray, and to paint a stripe on the cross and a symbol of them needing healing: spiritual, physical, emotional, mental.
then i read, But Jesus, again crying out loudly, breathed his last. At that moment, the Temple curtain was ripped in two, top to bottom. There was an earthquake, and rocks were split in pieces. What's more, tombs were opened up, and many bodies of believers asleep in their graves were raised. After Jesus' resurrection, they left the tombs, entered the holy city, and appeared to many. -Matthew 27:50-53
and then i ripped a black cloth, and placed it on the cross.
ended in prayer. everyone silently walked away.
