Kitchen Wall. Gone.

Written by evan on May 31, 2008 at 1:22 AM

Some have been asking, "Evan, what do you do with your free time?"
I tear stuff up.

This week we tore the wall out in between the kitchen and dining room.

Create Your Own Radio Station

Written by evan on May 29, 2008 at 11:08 AM

I just discovered Pandora Radio.
Pandora is a free web streaming radio program.
But here is the cool part.
You tell it what artist or song you like and it will create a radio station with that artist and artist similar to it.

So, I typed in "Pearl Jam", and here are some tracks it has played recently for me in my so called playlist called "Pearl Jam Radio."

Alive - Pearl Jam
About a Girl - Nirvana
Plush - Stone Temple Pilots
Otherside - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Severed Hand - Pearl Jam
Heartbreaker - Led Zeppelin
Best of You - Foo Figthers
Fell on Black Days - Soundgarden

What would be your custom radio station?

My Ringtone.

Written by evan on May 28, 2008 at 10:57 AM

I change mine maybe every couple of months.
My current ring tone.
Hard Sun by Eddie Vetter off of the Into the Wild soundtrack.

What is yours?

Goodbye Kitchen

Written by evan on May 24, 2008 at 6:53 PM

Yesterday and today we spent most of the day, getting rid of kitchen cabinets, counter tops, and busting up drywall.

When txting in service is a good.

Written by evan on May 19, 2008 at 9:17 AM

Tonight at our youth service, we encouraged our students to text message.
We signed up for free with a service called Poll Everywhere.

We asked the questions, "What causes you to pound the table?"
And then students texted their answer to a certain number, and then we projected the poll website page and watched the live results come in.
It was very simple.

Here some of the results.

Today we moved!

Written by evan on May 17, 2008 at 6:30 PM

Today we moved 1.6 miles into our new home.
Well, we moved our stuff to our new home.
And we moved in with our pastor.
For the next several weeks we will be remodeling our house before we live in it.
Here are some pictures of todays move.
The house we moved out of has a spiral staircase, so you have to be creative on how to get things out of the 2nd story.

Why I Love Macs. Bonjour.

Written by evan on May 12, 2008 at 9:11 AM

Bonjour.
It's an instant network.
I love how whatever network I'm on, when I log into the Bonjour instant messenger, it automatically shows everyone else that is logged onto the network & Bonjour instant messenger.
No adding of people.
It just shows people.

While I was at The Orange Conference, because of Bonjour, I was able to have a short conversation with Steve Fee.

Go and buy Fee's album

Fight Against Malaria

Written by evan on May 7, 2008 at 9:26 PM

The Plow is giving away this shirt.

1. Go to Bite Back and read about Malaria and what we can do to help.
2. Donate as much, or as little as you want. $10 = 1 net so you know.
3. Email Corey(corey@jaghq.com) your receipt, shirt size and shipping info.

I did it, so can you.
Let me know if you do it.

Why I'm grateful, with a broken car.

Written by evan on May 6, 2008 at 4:28 PM

My car has been acting up this past week.
I just found out that the 4th cylinder is sick.

but
here is why I'm grateful

i have two other vehicles
i have a scooter to ride around on, that my dad gave me
i was given the car for high school graduation
my wife has a car that was given to her
after 142,000 miles this is the first major problem
if the world were a village of 1,000 people, only 70 people would own one.

Seizing Opportunities

Yesterday I had the privilege to speak on the 6th part of our series called Chase the Lion in the am message at First Assembly.

Listen here to the message, called Seizing Opportunities

Would you eat it?

Written by evan on at 10:09 AM

Last night at the pipeline Travis spoke about keeping a tight rein on our tongues.
I boiled a cow's tongue for 30 minutes and then we showed it to the students during the message.

Inside the Orange. Louie Giglio

Written by evan on at 9:21 AM

The last session of Orange, Louie Giglio spoke.
I wasn't real familiar who he was.
All i knew was that the middle aged women sitting in front me screamed like school girls when Reggie announced Louie was speaking.

Here's what I got jotted down on what Louie shared before my iBook battery died.

The Church Should Be
...something, instead of doing something.
...having supernatural acts plus supernatural stories.
...more about movement then walls
...about the future more than about the past
...leaning forward.
...about engaging young people.

The Orange Conference

Inside the Orange. Andy Stanley

Written by evan on May 1, 2008 at 3:20 PM

Andy did a Q&A with Reggie Joiner.
It was hard to take notes.

We have far more in common with non-Christians than what we don’t have in common.

If you create irresistible environments for people, people come.
#1 cause of poverty in America. Is divorce.
People have to get to a point where they become a self-feeder.

Everybody’s stories include 5 elements.
Practical Teaching – recognize some sort of spiritual truth
Providential Relationships – some person was in their life
Private Disciplines – learn how to have a quiet time
Pivotal Circumstances – something that cuts the legs off of their faith, or increases their faith.
Personal Ministry – somebody challenged to serve the church.
