My bad experience with Jak Prints

Written by evan on June 4, 2008 at 9:14 AM

I've been going thru Jak Prints for whenever I needed promotional postcards printed for different events.
They are cheap and have a good turnaround time.
I've always have been fairly pleased with them.

But.
The latest order I sent in was for some dated material for our promotional postcards for our Father's Day event at First Assembly.
I uploaded the artwork, ordered the cards no problem.
Eight days later the postcards show up.
I open the box to look them over and to get ready to pass them onto our team that was going to label, stamp, and mail them that day.

But.
When I opened the box, I noticed they looked a little odd.
*ats where the problem came in.

So, I called JakPrints.
Here was their solution.
"Send back a couple of the postcards back to us, so that we can verify they are 3" instead of 3.5", and if so, we will do a reprint."
So we did that.

5 Days later.
When I logged into my JakPrints account today, I noticed they started production on the postcards again, so I immediately called about the date I would have them in my hands.
They said they would do standard shipping and I would have them in my hands on Monday, June 9th, 10 days after the initial postcards were in my hands.

3.5"

3.0"

I then asked for the supervisor, and here was our conversation. Paraphrased

Me: "I ordered the postcards, you cut them wrong, and now I'm 10 days behind, can't you overnight them?"
Supervisor: "You only paid for standard shipping."
Me: "I paid for 3.5" tall postcards and got 3"."
Supervisor: "But you didn't put a rush on them the first time."
Me: "Exactly, because I planned out enough time, so I didn't have to rush. Now I'm 10 days behind on a dated event."
Supervisor: "Sorry we don't do that."
Me: "I guess I will switch all of our printing to Vistaprints for now on."
Supervisor: "Ok"

Who do you use to print with?

*UPDATED*- Jak Prints emailed me. I posted it here.

Try Adco...they're based here in Tampa, but do nationwide work. The church I used to be with uses them for everything...including their weekly bulletin. Check them out at

For postcards, I use rushflyers.com. Cheap and good stuff.

Do NOT use them for fliers/posters/etc. though or you will experience frustration much like what you have with Jak.

Never had any trouble with postcards though (but they are for bigger orders...).

I've used overnightprints.com - excellent service so far. There product line is a bit limited, so depending on what you need - they may not meet what you need.

Sounds like Jak, doesn't give a Jak.

Ok, while this isn't meant to be rude, I hope you gain some insight from someone who only knows of you through this blog.
While your customer service experience was less than stellar, is this post really necessary? Better yet, is it Christian? Is this what you think Jesus would do? For some reason, I can't see Jesus publicly defaming someone because they treated Him badly. As I recall reading, Jesus was treated kinda poorly by some folks and I don't remember reading where he felt the need to slam them or discourage others from liking/using them.
I stop by here once in awhile and I will continue to, hoping I find some content a little less self serving. I'm so tired of people who put "pastor" before or after their name and think that gives them the right to act in whatever manner they choose. Yes, this is a free society, but when you place that title to your name, I believe you have just restricted what comes out of your mouth or through your computer. We must, as teachers and evangelists, live a life the exemplifies what Christ was and is all about.
My rant is through, but I would strongly suggest this post and any other self-serving post be removed.
Thank you for your time.

@Anonymous - So the proper action is to be taken advantage of and devalued as a customer for the sake of Christ? and cost your ministry unecessary expenses? I don't think Christ expects us to live with no backbone. From this post no specific person was blasted or disrespected. This was an issue that was not dealt with properly and no action was taken. I'd hope if you were in a similar situation, you'd advise others to avoid and not tolerate such service. Not saying anything, whether it be public or not does not change or cause someone or some company to change there practices. The added benefit of this post is, they took care of the situation, which has also been made public. Which would cause me to reconsider using them.

@Anonymous - one other comment. Didn't Jesus call the Pharisees a "Brood of Vipers"? He also called them Hypocrites and White Washed Tombs.

To question someone's use of a title seems kinda silly when you won't even use your name when responding.

Sorry if I seem harsh in my responses, but I'm not sure where your going with your comment. So...
I'm just saying.

Ms or Mr anonymous...

Jesus never called us to be people who get stepped all over...Evan did not say anything rude and the company is lucky that he reacted the way he did, because if it was another customer they probably would have cussed and yelled...
